The Burns Howff Club was formed in the Globe Inn, Dumfries, south west Scotland in 1889, and meets on the 25th January each year to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns in 1759 with a "Burns Supper". The Club takes its name from a reference by Robert Burns to the Globe Inn being his favourite "Howff", an old Scottish term for a meeting place.
The Howff Club has an extensive library of Burns works and the works of other Scottish poets and literary figures. Members are always pleased to welcome visitors to the Globe Inn and Dumfries, and it is always a particular pleasure to host Burns Suppers at The Globe Inn or at a venue of your choice.
